Masami by Toohoi
Massami is Toohoi's Japanese inspired collection; a range of accessories and homewares made from beautiful japanese silk, repurposed from vintage silk kimonos and obis sourced directly from Japan.
Many are hand painted, hand embroidered and are vintage items varying in age from 30 to 50 years old, occasionally antique from 100 years old. Silk, a natural fibre, is the finest and most hardwearing, so even the antigue kimonos are in fantastic condition.
The material has such richness of colour – silk has high affinity for dye and therefore colours remain true and bright.
“I love working with these materials – they're like small works of art.”
Eva buys the kimonos and then decides what the material lends it to when it arrives.
Eva makes a range of accessories; keyrings, zipped coin purses, clasp purses/clutch bags and occasion bags. Eva also makes homewares, such as cushions/throw pilows and lampshades. She also takes commissions for special occasions like weddings.
